S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. which has been in development since 2001 is about to be shipped to stores for the end of March and immediately comes into contention for 2007 game of the year.

The shooter takes place in the environmental mess of a radioactive Chernobyl (yes, they learn nothing from the first disaster and experience a second meltdown/explosion within the confines of an area measuring 4kmx4km. Given such a vast world to explore, the storyline forces the quest to follow a scripted and linear evolution of your character's identity crisis as you pick up new items to add to your inventory that allow you to explore new areas otherwise made inaccessible giving the game a certain RPG feel.
