WarCry previews Huxley

Warcry reminds us with their preview from the GDC that Huxley is the next (think Planetside) massive-fps but what has piqued my interest is...

The key difference is that this game takes the "unlocks" of games like Battlefield 2142 to the next level. Like most MMOs, players pick a class (Enforcer, Avenger or Phantom) and then equip themselves. In more of an FPS-bent though, their typical FPS skills are linked to the equipment their character has earned. Each piece of equipment provides the character with additional ability slots, up to a maximum of five per battle. Players then must carefully select which abilities to bring in.

These can be anything from sprint, to an anti-headshot device that prevents those pesky one-shot kills. Others include things players may often take for granted in normal FPS games, like one that allows players to see how many hit-points their enemies have left.

Crysis demo coming

the shooter that is gonna try to revive (too few and far between) the genre on the PC --- Crysis has news of their demo/beta (mp and sp) on the way...

Portal and Team Fortress 2 bundled to HL2:ep2

some news

Half-Life 2 (HL2): ep 2 is gonna be late...

  • could be either because they are taking this for a simultaneous release on all platforms or because they are making this a doozy of a game bundling Team Fortress 2 and Portal into the mix

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. which has been in development since 2001 is about to be shipped to stores for the end of March and immediately comes into contention for 2007 game of the year.

The shooter takes place in the environmental mess of a radioactive Chernobyl (yes, they learn nothing from the first disaster and experience a second meltdown/explosion within the confines of an area measuring 4kmx4km. Given such a vast world to explore, the storyline forces the quest to follow a scripted and linear evolution of your character's identity crisis as you pick up new items to add to your inventory that allow you to explore new areas otherwise made inaccessible giving the game a certain RPG feel.

for part one in an interview with the game's lead developer head on over to CVG

ps3 buys some peace of mind

why i got a ps3 ...reason #37

the option to contribute to folding@home

---gives the ps3 owners something to feel less guilty about when splurging on a gaming system ---as if any gamer would actually sacrifice any of their (oh still so fragile) bandwith
